To be able to walk well
A tasteful sensation!
Value and honor
Yes, but no pain!
It’s always a pleasure
To be able to walk well!

Autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay (ARSACS)

ARSACS is a progressive, hereditary neurological disease. It is most common in the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean (SLSJ) and Charlevoix regions of Quebec, but can also affect people whose ancestors came from these areas. ARSACS affects boys and girls equally. Approximately 200 people are affected, and about one in 22 is a (healthy) carrier of the defective ARSACS gene in the SLSJ and Charlevoix regions. Two carrier parents have a 25% probability of having an affected child with each pregnancy.
